Super Eagles: Ntiero Effiom worried about Yobo, Agbim and Odemwingie call up

Stephen Keshi

Former women’s national team handler Ntiero Effiom, former Super Falcons coach has complained about the call up of Joseph YoboAgbim and Peter Odemwingie to the Super Eagles’ 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
The coach thinks that addition of the trio will only cause distraction to the team.
We can go as far as the final because no team is more important than the other at the World Cup. We have the boys that can take us to the final if they play as a team. There is hope that we can make it,” he told The Punch.
I do not have any problem with the selection process. My only concern is the inclusion of Yobo, goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim and Odemwingie.
I do not know whether Agbim has changed from what we saw of him at the 2014 CHAN; he did not impress me but it is the prerogative of the coaching crew to pick players.
However, I would not want Yobo to go there and cause problems by insisting that since he is captain, he must play in defiance of team tactics and plans. Of course, I trust Keshi to handle that.
Odemwingie’s inclusion, I believe, is out of pressure on the coach, but he should not go there believing that his inclusion was out of pressure and external influence. Keshi should be able to control him psychologically and discipline him.
He should be loyal to the team and the coaching crew. He should be disciplined. For me, he is a good player but he should blend with the team,” he concluded.
